CCOT Essay

Throughout my life, there were many changes that I kept and lost. Though I'm not sure how my life change through the course of my life, I rarely take notice of it in the first place. Different things took place during time period. I believe my first couple of years in life was the most life changing for me as a whole.

From year 0 to 5, I was still living in Vietnam/Hong Kong. I was pretty content that and played with children my age while my parents worked. Then one day, they announced that we were moving to America. During my stay in America, habits started to kick in. I got lazier and more laid-back. My skin color actually got lighter and I got chubbier. My laziness sticked with me through highschool as well. Knowledge seemed to just come to me. I don't really know why my laziness stuck with me. It felt good not doing anything and and still get by easily.

From year 6 to 10, I developed a type of arrogance in school. Everything came so easily for me. I eased by school with As and sometimes Bs. The English language was difficult to learn the first year or so. But I found ways to cope with the language, just not the grammar at some points. The arrogance stuck with me till today I suppose. School seemed too easy for me and felt like I needed a challenge.

From year 11 to 16, I started to lose some of that laziness I developed. Especially in English classes. I sort of struggled during the grammar and analyzing parts of the class. I had to put in effort to try to work out my homework, or reading an essay/packet assigned to me by my teacher. In high school especially, I had to put in more effort for English class. That, by itself, caused me to lose some of that arrogance and laziness.

In conclusion, even though (I blame American :D) living in America helped develop some of my bad habits, good things came out of it as well. Learning to work hard and being modest is needed to be successful in anything you do.
